Snowboarding Prep?

Skiing - Day 4

Krista, Lane, and Matthew ventured to Snowbird in search of deeper, fluffier snow. We weren't disappointed in the least, and had a great day of skiing "the 'bird". Master photographer Krista captured these priceless moments of the skiers (Matthew, Lane, and Papa in that order) until she was flattened by an unfortunate, out of control skier.

Krista was also kind enough while filming to shade the lense with her finger to ensure we didn't get too much sun to ruin the shot. A good time was had by all.

Snow boarding?

Alex, Krista and Honey hit the slopes yesterday to do what she calls "snow boarding".

Merry Christmas to all

I know, I know... we have been so horrible about posting. I think I've written this particular post multiple times in the past years, explaining why we are just so busy having fun with our kids that we don't take time to post. So again, no excuses.

I hope everyone is having a great Christmas. The snow in Park City isn't the best of the season, but the skiing is great anyway, and the kiddos are so much fun hanging out together.

Here are some "tracks" from our first few days of skiing.

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe...

Alex recently shared her own rendition of the classic counting rhyme, "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe." My favorite part was her change in lyrics:

"catch a tiger in a toe, if you hollar let him know..."

For the record, I also think the game is rigged... I never win.

Reese is 3 (about 2 weeks ago)

Yes, Reese hit the big t-h-r-e-e mark. Unfortunately, it was almost 2 weeks ago and I am that behind in posting anything. Come to think of it, I'm a few months behind. If only it were easier to take images of your kids and make them accessible to your family. Someone should get on that, its much too hard. You have to buy the film, take photos, go get them developed, scan them in, and then upload them to CompuServ or AOL, and then write HTML code to get them up on a site where your loved-ones can view them. There must be a better way...

"I just like to eat the things I like."

Grandma: "I'm sure glad you aren't a picky eater."

Quotables

Alex to Krista early Sunday morning:

"Hey mom, its mothers day today. That's a day when daddies go away and moms stay with the kids"

(posted by Daddy, sitting half-way across the world in the Canberra, Australia airport... feeling really guilty)

Happy Birthday and (early) Mother's Day

Jill, aka Super Nanny, made this montage in tribute of Matthew's birthday and Mother's day! Unreal. This is so far above and beyond Matthew's skills and previous work!

Sunday, Sunday!

What a great weekend. And capped off with a wonderful fun-filled Sunday. R and Matthew did their weekly 6:30AM Safeway run, then church for the family at 8, and then down to Petry's in Portola Valley where we got to play, and see the horses!

and video...

Now we're off to Rainforest Cafe with Doug and Daniel. The good times just keep on coming! Hope everyone had a great weekend too!

Quotables

Sadie and Alex were playing together on a warm, sunny Saturday in the backyard. Sadie grabs a toy cell phone and says:

S: "Alex, let's pretend I'm calling you on your cell phone."
A: "OK, call me now!"

Sadie comes inside while Alex stays outside...

S: "Hello, Alex, are you there?" holding the phone up to her ear.
A: "Hi, this is Alex."
S: "Hi Alex, how are you?"
A: "I'm good." long pause

S: "Alex, are you there?"
A: "Just send me an email if I'm not there!"
S: "Ok, I'll send you an email."

Kids being kids

I feel like I've been lucky the past week or so, and I've gotten to spend a bunch of time with my family, and in particular my kids! I found this video from a few weeks back of Alex sliding at Pump it Up! They went there again yesterday with J and loved it.

Enjoy!

Quotables

Today A was explaining to R how even though they'll be going to the same school, A will be in the kindergarten class for older kids and R will be in the preschool class for little kids because A grew up faster than R.

Then A says: "And you know what? Mommy grew up even faster than me."

"I wonder who grew up the fastest in the whole world... hmmm... I bet Judy."

Classic.

Cousins!

We had a such a great time this weekend in Park City with the Fairbain and O'Malia families. These few shots don't do it justice, but the kids were great, the skiing fantastic, and the sun was shining! We need to get together more often!

Are you ready for some football?!?

Going above and beyond in preparation for Super Bowl 43, Krista went out to seek expert analysis on Pittsburgh's chances this Sunday.  After a number of conversations, she decided to go straight to a source with first-hand experience on winning super bowls for the Steelers...

Hey, Terry... watch where your hand is on my wife's waist!

Go Steelers!

Hitting the slopes

The family made our way to Park City for some skiing, sun, and Sundance fun. Alex made her ski school debut, and Reese learned the merits of hard work shoveling the snow. We're having a blast!
